Liposuction

Despite our best efforts with diet and exercise, we all have those areas that just don’t seem to budge. While diet and exercise play a pivotal role in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, some fat deposits might be resistant to these efforts. Liposuction offers a solution to sculpt and contour these specific areas, providing a more balanced and harmonious body silhouette. It’s not a weight-loss procedure but rather a body-contouring tool that addresses those stubborn pockets of fat that remain unresponsive to traditional weight loss methods, helping you to achieve the contours that reflect your efforts and lifestyle.

How a Liposuction works

During consultation, the surgeon will assess the areas of fat accumulation and discuss the desired outcomes. On the day of the procedure, the surgeon and patient will work together to create a surgical plan of mapping the areas to be targeted.

The procedure begins with small, strategically placed incisions in the target area. A saline solution mixed with local anesthetic is then introduced to break down fat cells, making them easier to remove. A thin, hollow tube called a cannula is then inserted, moving it back and forth to dislodge the fat, which is then suctioned out with a surgical vacuum or syringe.

Over the weeks following the procedure, as swelling diminishes, the newly sculpted area becomes more evident. Proper aftercare and adherence to post-operative guidelines are crucial for best results. The recovery phase is marked by wearing compression garments to reduce swelling and ensure skin conforms to the new contours. While some results are visible soon after the procedure, the full result may only become apparent after several months.

While many patients return to work within a few days to a week after liposuction, strenuous activities should be avoided for about a month. It’s essential to note that while the fat cells are permanently removed, patients need to maintain their post-liposuction weight. A healthy diet and regular exercise can help sustain the results of the procedure.
